kitty kat klubberz

In one of my last posts, I mentioned my friend and I would be coordinating our sparkly tight outfits together. She was my Valentine. Teehee. ;) (You might also remember her from a Class of Fashion post from last year!) We have an inside joke from our Chemistry class last year with cats (almost spelled that with a "k") and meowing. We are both members of the (unofficial but so official) Kitty Klub.

our sparkly tights + my friend's sparkly nails:

 Meow!

My outfit that day:
I think I look kind of scary in that pic...

jacket - delias, shirt - urban outfitters, skirt - store in south korea (i've been wearing it a lot recently, sorry for that!), tights - american eagle, shoes - cathy jean

Anddd this weekend, I went to a free teen workshop at the Bellevue Art Museum in Washington and screen printed my very own shirt! It was fabulous. I'll take more detail pics of the shirt (I added little birdie on the back shoulder) and the colors are pretty cool (at least that was the intention). I screen printed a black cat in the very center, a red one a little to the right, and a blue one to the left.

Inspiration for this blue/red shirt idea came from photos like these:

Speaking of Kitty Klubberz, a shout out to my friend Kate who is also a Kitty Klubber. Yesterday, she was refreshing my blog every 10 mins for a while to see if I'd post something new. :P She has some awesome photo skillage, so I thought I'd repay her by showcasing some of her work

This was an unexpectedly cat-related post. To fulfill it further:

PS. There is actually a Cat Day on March 5th. Check out ways to celebrate on the Facebook Page. ;)

new york new york

As promised, here are some of my favorite collections from this year's New York Fashion Week! Before last Thursday(ish), I'd totally forgotten that NYFW was even going on--I'm not so in-the-know with high fashion stuff, but my friend was talking about how excited she was and then it struck me! So I've definitely been spending too much time looking at pretty clothes I would never splurge on, but hey, it's fun. Anywho, here are some of my favorite pieces. And there are still more to come!

Monique Lhuillier

Isaac Mizrahi

Definitely a surprising collection with the candy-colored poodles to match, and men with cakes? Who would've known...

L'Wren Scott Fall 2011

Loved the bright, statement-making colors and designs. I like the way their makeup and hair was arranged as well.

Marchesa Fall 2011

This look reminded me of Grace Kelly-especially the model's face...

Anna Sui Fall 2011 RTW

Her collection had so much to offer, so many different textures, styles, there was something for everyone to love. Diverse colors and ensembles were really inspiring. And many of the looks were outfits I could see real people wearing; and that's always uplifting for me at least. Of course, I didn't like some looks; I felt like they were too Halloween-y, however rich and playful the Scooby Doo/Daphne-esque colors may be.

The design and details are so meticulous and worked great to create a complete look in the end. This look and a few others totallyyy reminded me of Daphne from Scooby Doo.

Loved this model's hair. :]

Jeremy Scott Fall 2011RTW

Jeremy Scott's collections always seem to "speak" some sort of message by playing with pop culture images and symbols. I love his unique perspective. I have to admit, sometimes I feel like many high end collections are so similar with their elegant poofy dresses, redundant shades of gray or black, and...y'know, but Scott always offers something fresh, crazy and surprising in a still eye-attracting way. But I do like his Fall 2010 collection better. That collection got me hooked.

Douglas Hannant Fall 2011 RTW

With lots of loose, flowy styles and short bobs, the collection seemed to exude a dark, mysterious 20s vibe but modernized with rich, violet hues. The geometric shapes of his last dress really caught my eye.

Y-3 Fall 2011 RTW

The deep blacks and bright tones with mixed shades of grays and greens all plotted on geometric, modern structures reminded me of London or Stockholm or just any epic European look.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 RTW

I really liked the sheer-ness of the print here. So regal yet playful.
This dress was just so feminine, kind of casual, and the suave flow reminded me of decadent milk chocolate with colorful confetti spots.

Thom Brown Fall 2011 (more pics)

I loved how different this was from everything. The round, playful silhouettes reminded me of Russian matryoshkas. I thought the texture and print combinations were really creative as well.

Jason Wu Fall 2011 RTW (more pics)

DKNY Fall 2011 RTW (more pics)

So far, my favorite collections are DKNY, Vivienne Tam and Jason Wu. All of them make me swoon. If you have some favorites, please do share! I've only viewed a "teeninesy" number of collections out of the bajillions out there, so discovering new ones or talking about ones I've seen is super fun--something you gotta love about blogging right?

Something you'd see in Teen Vogue: Rachel Antonoff

Betsey Johnson Fall 2011 (I personally liked her 2010 collection better. Hehe)

G-Star RAW NYFW F/W 2010 (from last year but the modern take and structure, styles was so fresh that I think it would've been just as fresh if it were this years)
