Me Plus You

So guess what?! Erin's in the East Coast? She's excited for college? Well yah, all of those are true, but to top it off: Miranda from Little Gold Pocket Watch gifted me with a "One Lovely Blog Award" amidst six other blogs! When she told me, I think my eyes lit up and it was definitely a more-than-pleasant surprise. If you haven't visited her blog before, definitely worth it; she looks so good in her pics I wouldn't be surprised if she was a full-time model, and her photo locations are always stunning. I'm super jealous, but at least now we have something in common! Huzzah!

With this, I get to share seven nifty facts about myself:

1. I'm naturally a cat shirt collector: one's a band tee for Best Coast from Capitol Hill Block Party, another one I screen printed myself (so proud!), another says Kitty Overload with some kittays just chillin' and bein' cute.

2. I have too many boy crushes (to clarify: celebrity ones, not real life ones). Tom Felton, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tobey MaGuire, just to name a few. While I'm at it, if you have an accent--that's not American I suppose--I will probably fall head over heels for you. And if you're a ginger, double that.

3. For that matter, I probably have too many girl crushes. Emma Watson is so fine, I can't even.

2. I secretly wish I was/am/will be the next Oprah. My goal in whatever I do is to be able to reach the masses and I think it's really inspiring how she has such a crazy history and is able to highlight other awesome personalities in the world to the world.

4. My guilty pleasure: listening to Justin Bieber and Tswift before I go to sleep. C'mon, everybody enjoys a lil meaningless catchy tune sometimes (if you worship them, don't get me wrong! you are awesome but y'know y'know, let's not fight about this) Me, plus you, imma tell you one time...why can't you seeEEee you belong with meEEee....

5. I live on Youtube. I have at least 10 playlists, most of them with 50+ songs on them each. Yeah, I kinda live there.

6. I like gettin' crafty. Drawing, scrapbooking, you name it. If I want to make something, I will spend all day working on it and I have never been not proud of a piece of work I made (except for like little sketch stuff, y'know). But seriously, I get serious.

7. Hm... I can't think of anything else so I actually want you to ask me a something (leave a question in the comments) and I'll do a post answering all yer inquiries! :)

And with the award I get to send it along to seven other bloggers but know that there are so many it's difficult for me to just choose like this. So, here are my seven picks in no particular order:

a post for a toast to seattle: finally

i knew i was moving for good for a while. so did a lot of other friends. we all knew, but who knew it would hit home until just a few days before leaving.

i'm finally thinking about it. i'm imagining myself sitting at the airport, waiting in line at customs, sitting at the newsstand place, reading teenvogue. but i wont be, because i'll be remembering seattle rain knocking at my doorstep, car rides and walks with the people who really matter, and even small talks with the people who kind of matter (haha). dont worry about me. dont think i'll be too hyped up about the new life i'll be living because i'll be remembering seattle.

i wont be sleeping during my flight to jersey, i wont even be imagining life ahead, i'll be dreaming of everything that's beautiful in seattle. i'll be half asleep with purple and gold colors flying through my brain, seeing pictures of the good times when i didn't want to be anywhere else, and the bad times when i hated everyone here and cried alone in my closet, trying to figure out who i am above the misconceptions that still haunt me.

i'm imagining myself on the car ride when my bro picks me up from the airport to his house. i'll be talking to him. "so what'd you do before you left seattle?" i'll tell him "just trying to enjoy seattle with my friends for the last times." but i wont be talking to him, i'll be giving him only a sample of everything the last month has meant to me. i'll be trying to ignore the reality that i really have no idea when i'll be in seattle again. i really have no idea when the next time i'll be able to see all the people who shaped me and changed my life. i really have no idea when life will lead me back to washington. but i'm glad it was a part.

i'm imagining myself in new york, in college during orientation. no lie and i'm not gonna hide it; i'm definitely going to have a kick-ass time there. like. i'm not even joking it's gonna be the best thing ever; if you're jealous of me, well i would be too. but i'll be jealous of you too cuz you get to ripen and grow bright green and tall and fruitful where you've always been planted. but moving to a new place doesn't mean i'm starting totally over. i'm being replanted, but this time with seasoning and with some natural hormones that just give the extra boost.

anyway, i'm imagining myself in college. i wont be living a new life. i never will be. i'll be living off the life i've built here. seattle, you mean a lot to me, yeah the space needle is alright and pike place is awesome but mostly, i mean the people i've brushed and embraced shoulders with in high school. some of those people i can't wait to leave, but in a way i'll miss them because sure, they helped me learn that there are suckers and semi-purely evil people in society. (hi!)

i'm imagining myself landing my first internship in new york, graduating, living in an apartment in the city, finding love and finding life. but in this life, did i ever say goodbye to seattle? no. i know things are only going to get better. thank you IHS, thank you chums and washington for an experience that's already embedded in my system. stick around, cuz maybe i'm not really leaving.

love,
erin

p.s. for my seattle friends, feel free to hit me up anytime on facebook or something, you guys really mean a lot to me, if you can't tell. :]

triple xxx to the maxxx

(Besides wrapping up my life in Seattle..well actually I guess that's all that going on for me right now...so) As I'm wrapping up my life in Seattle--saying hello and goodbye to friends, breathing pristine Pacific Northwest air, eating at those favorite hot spots for one last time--I got to chill with some pals at a local eatery called Triple XXX (it's not a naughty place if that's what you're thinking. They just serve some seriously ginormous hamburgers and shakes, etc.). If you're ever in the greater Seattle area of Washington, Triple XXX is a pretty unique place that's worth a visit!

My favorite part, naturally, was all the  decor and retro theme they had with the neon signs, rustic and diverse  license plates signaling fond memories, and photos and posters for and  from all over the place sparking a nostalgic, hundred-mile journey in the comfort  of your 50s candy-colored seat as you fight a chunky burger with your mouth and slurp down a guiltily rich,  but oh-so delightful milkshake.

unique food, friends, awesome retro interior designs (oh yeah, and a good photographer friend) = superb time

rockin' the squinty eye look like no other.

if you thought this post was scandalous, well stop and think twice bro. (because of the title, i'm probably going to traffic from mischievous websites, oh joy.)
