wind's kiss

as the sun descends to return to its bed and blanket of the earth,
you whisper to me.

your lips of cool sensitivity trace my neck,
the chill dancing with the sun's burnt orange hush.

people banter and walk on.
but i stick with you
privately, at the cement street intersection.

your caring wishes tickling me with glowing rays
trickling between the town's
wires, rooftops, flickering branches.

a fresh fragrance of wood complements your natural touch.
just as the sun goes to sleep, your flirtation must end, too.
just as the sun wakes, will you be back as well?
will your distant gazes evolve to something more?

stroke my hand.
caress just below the flowy hem of my skirt.
tell me about your dreams.

maybe the sun will have slept by then
and only the smiling stars will be left to silently serenade us.

or maybe you'll leave.
maybe i'll get away to the big city where you roam only fiercefully like you're mad.

but maybe i'll find you at ease, muscles relaxes like we are here now.
your finger tips mildly rustle the loose waves of my hair.

i wrinkle my nose.
you brush my ear.
the ever perfect lover.

wind

you move me to a world where i don't have to move.
you welcome. you take me in.
you make the move to introduce yourself to me.
you don't know me
yet you know all there is;
we are of the same god, the same nature.

you love. you are. we are.
wind.
kiss my silhouette.
take me home where the starlight can paint
our effervescent love with a sweet serenade.

a thousand words

so a few days ago, my mom went to her "Talk Time" session to practice her English with other community members and I hung out at their church's library. I didn't know the library had so many picture opportunities! I bought my biology review book, college viewbooks for researching, and old journals to stimulate my college app essay ideas, but i didn't get to any of them because I was taking pics! if you need a place for pics i definitely recommend libraries! you'd be surprised! and this one was a teeny tiny one.

i haven't seen one of these in ages - so long that i don't even remember the name... card reader things? :{

two beautiful words, right beside each other. (well animal was actually between them, but shhh...)

after taking myriad pictures, i ended up creating a story and playing around with gifs! so here we go! (anything in parenthesis is commentary)

on a warm summer day
erin decided to visit the cool library to stay
she saw some interesting books
and read em to the nooks! (i dont know if that's an actual slang phrase, but now it is!)

gif creator

then all of a sudden
a furry critter came along
and asked "can you read me a story?
i promise to get along!"

gif creator

at first erin was hesitant
and swayed to the back
but when she said "ok! i'll read you a A Kids Guide to TV!,"
mr. racoon brought his whole pack!
(sorry about the underlines... i dont know how to get rid of them)

gif creator

the daunting library animals scared erin at first
but their sweet looks and attention to her words
made getting closer so fun! (lost my rhyme D:, lemme know if you think of a word/phrase for this one)

gif creator
soon enough she made library friends like no other
and gave mr. racoon a friendly kiss
with the love of a mother
(that chair is super small, but fit me very well!)

THE END

thanks emily!

as for my day, in english, we were assigned to write a "credo" in the form of a poem (i'll post mine sometime next week :D). so for inspiration, we read Robert Fulghum's All I Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten and it may just be one of my favorite little writing pieces! & I thought I'd share it with you:

“All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school.

These are the things I learned:

  • Share everything.
  • Play fair.
  • Don’t hit people.
  • Put things back where you found them.
  • Clean up your own mess.
  • Don’t take things that aren’t yours.
  • Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody.
  • Wash your hands before you eat.
  • Flush.
  • Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
  • Live a balanced life - learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
  • Take a nap every afternoon.
  • When you go out in the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands and stick together.
  • Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: the roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
  • Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup - they all die. So do we.
  • And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned - the biggest word of all - LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.

Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if we all - the whole world - had cookies and milk at about 3 o’clock in the afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess.

And it is still true, no matter how old you are, when you go out in the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.”

a vicious cycle

My mom's like a best friend that I've never had and never will have. I can be myself and I don't have to hide anything. We have such similar personalities that everything just clicks. But that's the problem. When a small misunderstanding sparks, then everything goes berserk.

So we'll have a our high times as we watch old, classy movies together and laugh our butts off watching America's Funniest Home Videos and critique ice skaters as we watch reruns of the Winter Olympics Figure Skating, but then I say something a little askew, and then my mom's like what? and I'm like what?!?!?! and then everything's like WHAT?!?!??!!?!!?!?!?!?$@%#%

You could say that our relationship is like American economy (at least US economy according to my AP US History teacher). Apparently, our economy has its amazing highs and then crashes tremendously like in the Depression of the 20s. Then things are amazing-er than before! And then, things are stinkier than before. The cycle goes on until the crash is too big to handle, and I feel like that's going to happen sometime soon between my mom and me... I don't know what to do.

I got frustrated, so I started journalling which then became poetry...

1.
I'm left here in a flourishing cage with my mom.
A blessing and a curse.

I can't tell if it's for better or for worse.

When life is good,
I feel like I'm free
only to find myself in disgusting symmetry.

I see my mom;
we laugh, we joke

and then we brawl and fight when we really shouldn't have.

I hate it.
I want it over.

but what can i do?

I'm so human,

I'm so distraught.

I'm tied to this cycle like glue.

I know it's gonna happen again,
it's just the way we are...

but I don't want to lose my mom.

my friend, that twinkling star.

I sit, in lonely disarray,
anger getting the best of me.

she sits in the next room,
heated tension burning our symmetry.

now there's no more laughs.
goodbye friend.
goodbye love.
I wish someone would stop me from anger,

I just have to wait and wait and wait

and pray to the one above.

2.
I want to break through
this mess
and find that
waiting fullness.
but I don't know where you are.

I

keep falling

making

crumbling under those same mistakes.

3.
I want to make things right,

but I don't want to be wrong.

I want this friendship to last forever,

but both of us aren't that strong.

I want Jesus to come
and say
"It is finished"
but until then
we are gone, baby, gone.

hoo am i?

My friend, who prefers to name anonymous, writes these beautiful poems and I thought I'd share his latest one with you:

many stories I've told you
several secrets I've shown
I'm trying hard to let you in
I don't want to go it alone

I've been waiting quite a while now
for you to come by my side
but it seems you're not that interested
in what I have to hide

so I continue down this lonely road
I wonder if I'll last...
sometimes I think I'm making way
but I'm going nowhere fast

in life we strive to find ourselves
and make a home someplace
Who am I? Where do I belong?
I dont. I'm just a face.

My favorite part is the 3rd stanza - brilliant. :)

& I finally got a chance to wear my beautiful new necklace from Anthropologie that I won from one of My Owl Barn's lovely giveaways. I can't thank her enough for the fabulous necklace. I got so many compliments that day and I can't wait to wear it more! :)

Thank you My Owl Barn! :)

No more tomorrows

"The great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude."
- Self Reliance, Ralph Waldo Emerson

Recently, in my English class, I just finished studying Transcendentalism. As cities and urban life began to develop in 19th century America, Transcendentalists believed that man must find their ideal, independent state that 'transcends' beyond intellectualism and reason. Some say this is the period where true American-style writing began to develop. Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Walt Whitman are just a few of the many Transcendentalist writers. Here's a couple of poems I wrote for my English class imitating Transcendentalist style (embrace yourself because they're really cheesy. :D) And the first two pictures are from Austria (my dad and me) and the Alps, 2008, and the last one is from my old house.

Living Today in Love

Life - what a simple word?
But so much to do in a life, so little time.
Love - what an easy beauty?
But one little mess and you have a burdening climb.

Faith - what a useful tool?
But so difficult to trust, so easy to fail.
Hope - what a beautiful friend?
With God's almighty help, man's hope shall never end.

Life - all a man has is now,
one time to live, so live it well.
Love - a grand gift to receive for unworthy man.
it is all we have to give; so act, not just tell.

Faith - we all need a friend,
for without Jesus man is nothing.
So lost is he who has no faith,
but have no fear, for He is here.

Love - so sweet the sound,
and what a generous blessing.
The dirt of man is so undeserving,
but He who loves us so
never stops giving,
never stops blessing
God never stops loving.

With faith, with hope, and with love
life will never cease to be beautiful
as we praise and thank our Father above.

The Galaxy of Heaven

Behold the vast and immeasurable jewels
which surround man's humble soul.

Grasp the unsurpassable advensture of the blue skies.

Embrace the weaknesses of man against God's perfect creation.

Drink the virgin rain drops
as fresh motivation overflows your heart with living dreams.

Follow the shadows painted beside the lambent stars
bantering in an infinite galaxy
painted in the reflections of the clear meadows

Go! Run in the waters of neverending opportunity.
Swim in the hands of the Loving Lord.
Dance freely in the land of intuitive imagination.
Sing the song conducted in your heart as
you draw closer to the golden gates.

Pray, rejoice, and give thanks now,
as you kiss the life in heaven to come.
