some more about myself + weird pics of me

Recently, fellow fashion blogger J of My Closet My Life passed the Preppy Mafia Award (what an interesting name :D) to me. The award comes with a set of questions which I'm so excited to answer! Thank you so much J, you're a wonderful blogger and friend! :]

1. Who is your style icon?
In fashion, I don't really have one person I look up to. I pick up a little bit of everything from everywhere including celebrities like Kirsten Dunst, Zooey Deschanel, Audrey Hepburn, everyday fashion in my school, when I go to the city, lookbook.nu and European street fashion.

2. Which is your favourite socialite book?
I'm not exactly sure what a "socialite book" is but I'm guessing a fashion book? I love Teen Vogue,
European Vogue and sometimes Nylon. :]

3. Favourite party theme?
50s! I love old school pastels, big poofy tulle dresses, gentlemen in their snazzy suits, etc. My ideal party would be a mix of this video (50s bowling party like in Across the Universe) and this video (50s prom partay - not to mention jim sturgess' adorable headshake at 1:28). There must be swing dancing! And if time, icebreaker, board and other games (like Ninja, Catchphrase, Hide and Seek, Pictionary, Charades, and tag)! Now that's a party.

4. Go to Halloween costume.
Pumpkin! (these aren't the best pics, but oh well!) (from Halloween 2008)

5. Extravagance you cannot live without?
Probably most definitely clothes. Although I do know a lot of people who buy much more than I do. I just feel like I buy too much stuff I dont need. D:

6. Living person you admire?
That's a pretty tough one, but I'd have to go with my mom. She has to put up with whiney me and worry about me all the time while my dad is working in S. Korea and my brother is looking for a job in NJ and rarely calls us. She had to go through so much pain and tough times alone (like coming to Seattle two years ago by herself to search for a house for her and me, and fighting Breast Cancer, moving 4 times in two years in Washington), but she not only got through it all, she learned/s something from everything. She's a great role model in many ways (except for when she gets crazy mad and kicks me out of the house because she misunderstood a phrase I said - I don't really appreciate that part). :)

(from 3 years ago with my fam - minus the big bro - at the airport in s.korea)

7. Greatest fears?
a. Getting off track and doing something seriously stupid like drugs.
b. Never being able to find true love. Or thinking I found it and then it's gone.
c. Something happening to my mom. When I'm really stressed, I always have nightmares about my mom getting hurt, one time even stabbed (multiple times) with a knife, and another time even getting shot. Egkklsdawegjsdl... I dont want to think about it anymore...
d. Being shot with a gun. When I'm really stressed, I also have nightmares about getting attacked and stuck in my house alone with a burglar.

8. Traits you deplore in yourself?
a. Procrastinating (which I am doing right now D:).
b. Taking on too many tasks and wanting to do so much more than I can handle.
c. Not being able to say no.

pic from my first blog post, when procrastinating began to get serious.

9. Which talent would you most love to have?
To be brave about singing and acting! For some strange reason, I can jabber on stage without fear (ok there is a teensy bit of fear, but y'know), but I can't get myself to sing or act in public! If I could do that, I feel like I'd be a much better singer/actor too, but it's just so hard!

10. Greatest achievement?
Not caving into the expectations of others. This is my lifestory but I'll describe it in a nutshell: I was known as the "optimistic" kid and people always told me "why don't you swear?" "it's about time you grow up" "you're so naive and innocent" "you wouldn't understand" (my tiny stature only encouraged those thoughts) and i couldn't STAND it! People think that being positive is so... childlike and easy, but it's actually the hardest thing to do as a teen (and I don't think it's that diff in the adult world). I cried in my closet for maybe two hours and asked myself "am I going to live for this world or for something greater?" and I chose the latter because although I wanted to live for the world and for people, I knew I'd never be happy. So here I am today still fighting for happiness. :)

Now I'd like to pass this to lifesize paperdoll, canadieren, notebook doodles, bad penny, tony wang, dear kohls, jamie, jordan, and anyone else who'd like to participate! So tag, you're it, too! :)

what you might not have known about me

my math buddy, flickr friend and occasional blogger stalker tagged me in sharing 10 random facts about me-self! fo sho check our her flickr photostream, she's doing this 365 self portrait project and it's really amazing. :D

her flickr photostream

here i go! :]

1. I talk to myself and rerun conversations in my head and out loud. (I also pretend to win awards and go through the "i'd like to thank my mom... etc." yes, i'm pretty nerdy.)
2. I like to pretend I'm really gang$ter and gHeTtO.
3. I love children with all my heart. :)
4. My favorite food is Korean BBQ - it's probably the best thing in the world.
5. I love old films and would enjoy becoming a movie producer one day.
6. My favorite cartoon character is Snoopy. I love anything Peanuts!
7. I secretly like to watch kiss scenes in movies on youtube (like this one). (i know... soooo embarassing)
8. Sometimes I wish I was hipster, cool, indie and scene... yeah, shhh on this one too. ;D
9. If it weren't for my health problems and limitations, I think I could rule the world.
10. I can only sing well to Disney songs - I don't understand it.
11. I've always dreamed to live in a rural town where everyone knew each other - there'd be an ice cream and candy shop, local butcher and florist, annual carnivals and local parades and i could just ride my bicycle everyday and hang with my dog (like in Because of Winn-Dixie or Big Fish)

(i added an extra one.) :]

some of those are actually very deep/embarassing, so do not share them with the whole world... publishing this on my blog is probably the wrong way to do this for that purpose, but oh well... :P please share some of your random/unknown facts! :)

and pretend you were tagged (i'm too lazy to tag people so, I tag YOU); feel free to list 10 random facts about yourself! :)

Fantasy Glamorous Bag Challenge

The wonderful J of My Closet My Life has challenged me with this difficult yet enthralling task in which I choose my dream bag and the contents inside it. I thought this wouldn't take too long, but, man!, it took a couple of days for me to decide! But after some intense online searching, I discovered Valentino's Shiny Petale Tote. And remember, this is my fantasy bag; at the humble price of $2,650, I don't think I'd spend my 8 years of allowance saving for this one bag, and since the bag looks like it would occupy about a quarter of my petite size, it probably wouldn't look good on me. I just fantasize that it would. :)

I mean, hot tamales! Look at those intricately lined sequins, and the beautiful rose design!

As for the contents (I could probably fit myself in this oversized bag, haha)...

I would carry my license, cash, and pictures of me and my friends in my Coach wallet (I actually have this and received it as a birthday gift last month) :)

I'd also carry around one of these handy dandy notebooks to jot down any spectacular and whimsical ideas that come to mind, any sketches I am urged to draw, plans I randomly make, etc. etc. (I also received this for my birthday last month :D )

And of course, my trusty sidekick, my Sony Cybershot digital camera that I've had since at least 4 years ago. (I hope I'm not breaking the rules by choosing things I already have...)

Not to mention, a yummy snack (I also received this for my 17th birthday, but it's gone now of course). :)

And here's a tribute to the honorable mentions that almost won the spot of Fantasy Bag.
Prada Vernice Clutch (this one was 2nd place... gosh, now I'm thinking about changing my mind!!)

Valentino Fairytale Clutch (what an apt name; the fabric & flowers reminds of Impressionist art work)

Valentino Nuage Bow Tote

Valentino Laceland Tote

Prada Nylon Braided-Handle Tote

(I just realized most of these are Valentino, I think it's becoming one of my favorite brands) :)

Thanks again J for tagging me in this awesome challenge; it really made my brain think and I enjoyed searching through so many lovely bags! :)

Now I'd like to tag these fellow bloggers and see which bags they choose :) (and it's not required, so please don't feel like it's a burden!):

Have a great week everyone!
