Me Plus You

So guess what?! Erin's in the East Coast? She's excited for college? Well yah, all of those are true, but to top it off: Miranda from Little Gold Pocket Watch gifted me with a "One Lovely Blog Award" amidst six other blogs! When she told me, I think my eyes lit up and it was definitely a more-than-pleasant surprise. If you haven't visited her blog before, definitely worth it; she looks so good in her pics I wouldn't be surprised if she was a full-time model, and her photo locations are always stunning. I'm super jealous, but at least now we have something in common! Huzzah!

With this, I get to share seven nifty facts about myself:

1. I'm naturally a cat shirt collector: one's a band tee for Best Coast from Capitol Hill Block Party, another one I screen printed myself (so proud!), another says Kitty Overload with some kittays just chillin' and bein' cute.

2. I have too many boy crushes (to clarify: celebrity ones, not real life ones). Tom Felton, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Tobey MaGuire, just to name a few. While I'm at it, if you have an accent--that's not American I suppose--I will probably fall head over heels for you. And if you're a ginger, double that.

3. For that matter, I probably have too many girl crushes. Emma Watson is so fine, I can't even.

2. I secretly wish I was/am/will be the next Oprah. My goal in whatever I do is to be able to reach the masses and I think it's really inspiring how she has such a crazy history and is able to highlight other awesome personalities in the world to the world.

4. My guilty pleasure: listening to Justin Bieber and Tswift before I go to sleep. C'mon, everybody enjoys a lil meaningless catchy tune sometimes (if you worship them, don't get me wrong! you are awesome but y'know y'know, let's not fight about this) Me, plus you, imma tell you one time...why can't you seeEEee you belong with meEEee....

5. I live on Youtube. I have at least 10 playlists, most of them with 50+ songs on them each. Yeah, I kinda live there.

6. I like gettin' crafty. Drawing, scrapbooking, you name it. If I want to make something, I will spend all day working on it and I have never been not proud of a piece of work I made (except for like little sketch stuff, y'know). But seriously, I get serious.

7. Hm... I can't think of anything else so I actually want you to ask me a something (leave a question in the comments) and I'll do a post answering all yer inquiries! :)

And with the award I get to send it along to seven other bloggers but know that there are so many it's difficult for me to just choose like this. So, here are my seven picks in no particular order:

seven things

CommePolly recently tagged me with a Stylin’ Blogger Award! It's an honor because her blog is really cool and is full of inspiration and innovative fashion. It's most definitely worth visiting. :)

With the award, I get to share 7 things about myself (suh-weet!): so here we go!

1. My favorite cartoon guy is Snoopy (and anything Peanuts really). Snoopy rocks. I think it's self-explanatory.

2. In the future, I'd love to have my own show. I know that sounds rather vain, but I always thought it'd be cool to be the next Oprah or  something like that. In middle school, my friends did say that I'd make a  good Oprah..? It'd be like having a blog, but on TV and live!

3. I love the East Coast and I can't wait 'til college. I'm currently residing in Seattle and as much as I love the daily mist and inevitable smell of Starbucks and lush evergreen trees, I love the energy, the dreams, the fearless lifestyles of the East--my home. I was also extremely bugged by so many debbie-downers I've met in Washington; you might think Seattle-ites love rain since they get it all the time--I thought so, but no, they are some of the worst complainers I've ever encountered. (But there are beautiful people in Seattle too! It is a lovely place; haha). I can't wailt til I hear back from schools and find out where I'll be in a few months. :]

4. I hate when people say I'm "innocent." They think it's a nice thing, but there are few things I hate, and that is definitely one of them. I've lived through life, have cable TV and lived in the city; I watch Family Guy and like the video Jizz in My Pants.

5. I love film and in my wildest dreams I'd love to be a cinematographer or film director. I have too many favorite films to name but they include Silence of the Lambs, Life is Beautiful, Irma La Douce, and soo many more (there's a longer list on my blogger profile page).

6. I think Matthew Broderick is so adorable. I also have the hots for Jude Law, Leonardo Dicaprio (see my tumblr pic to the right ---->), Robert Downey Jr, Tom Felton, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ash Stymest, Robert Redford (in his time of course...I'm not that creepy). I actually have a hot guy list from ages ago; need to create a new one sometime...

7. I loveee music and discovering new music, but who doesn't right? I think my music taste is actually pretty hipster, but if you go to school with me, you probably know I am  obviously not--or at least I don't look like one. It sometimes actually bothers me because people see me as  this goody-two-shoes who probably listens to only JBiebz and TSwift  (don't get me wrong; they have some fabulously catchy tunes). I guess that goes back to #4. Anyway, I love music ranging from jazz to hip hop and oldies to alternative rock, but I guess I tend to listen to more alt/indie rock. And speaking of that, here's a few tunes I've been listenin to.

Now I'd like to pass this on to 7 other bloggers!: Maggie from Lifesize Paperdoll, Estefany from Helmet Head, Catherine from Silhouette Girl, Wendan from Laundry on Sundaes, Amber from Laughing with Broken Eyes, Kenzie from Kenzie Faith, Tegan from Tegan on Toast, Kimmi of Maze of Illusion. (I realized that was 8, but why not share a lil more love).

Thank you again CommePolly! :)

Psssst. If you haven't already, I'd love to get your feedback about my blog through the poll on the left. :)

some more about myself + weird pics of me

Recently, fellow fashion blogger J of My Closet My Life passed the Preppy Mafia Award (what an interesting name :D) to me. The award comes with a set of questions which I'm so excited to answer! Thank you so much J, you're a wonderful blogger and friend! :]

1. Who is your style icon?
In fashion, I don't really have one person I look up to. I pick up a little bit of everything from everywhere including celebrities like Kirsten Dunst, Zooey Deschanel, Audrey Hepburn, everyday fashion in my school, when I go to the city, lookbook.nu and European street fashion.

2. Which is your favourite socialite book?
I'm not exactly sure what a "socialite book" is but I'm guessing a fashion book? I love Teen Vogue,
European Vogue and sometimes Nylon. :]

3. Favourite party theme?
50s! I love old school pastels, big poofy tulle dresses, gentlemen in their snazzy suits, etc. My ideal party would be a mix of this video (50s bowling party like in Across the Universe) and this video (50s prom partay - not to mention jim sturgess' adorable headshake at 1:28). There must be swing dancing! And if time, icebreaker, board and other games (like Ninja, Catchphrase, Hide and Seek, Pictionary, Charades, and tag)! Now that's a party.

4. Go to Halloween costume.
Pumpkin! (these aren't the best pics, but oh well!) (from Halloween 2008)

5. Extravagance you cannot live without?
Probably most definitely clothes. Although I do know a lot of people who buy much more than I do. I just feel like I buy too much stuff I dont need. D:

6. Living person you admire?
That's a pretty tough one, but I'd have to go with my mom. She has to put up with whiney me and worry about me all the time while my dad is working in S. Korea and my brother is looking for a job in NJ and rarely calls us. She had to go through so much pain and tough times alone (like coming to Seattle two years ago by herself to search for a house for her and me, and fighting Breast Cancer, moving 4 times in two years in Washington), but she not only got through it all, she learned/s something from everything. She's a great role model in many ways (except for when she gets crazy mad and kicks me out of the house because she misunderstood a phrase I said - I don't really appreciate that part). :)

(from 3 years ago with my fam - minus the big bro - at the airport in s.korea)

7. Greatest fears?
a. Getting off track and doing something seriously stupid like drugs.
b. Never being able to find true love. Or thinking I found it and then it's gone.
c. Something happening to my mom. When I'm really stressed, I always have nightmares about my mom getting hurt, one time even stabbed (multiple times) with a knife, and another time even getting shot. Egkklsdawegjsdl... I dont want to think about it anymore...
d. Being shot with a gun. When I'm really stressed, I also have nightmares about getting attacked and stuck in my house alone with a burglar.

"rap music" day (2 years ago) (yes, I am pretty G)

8. Traits you deplore in yourself?
a. Procrastinating (which I am doing right now D:).
b. Taking on too many tasks and wanting to do so much more than I can handle.
c. Not being able to say no.

pic from my first blog post, when procrastinating began to get serious.

9. Which talent would you most love to have?
To be brave about singing and acting! For some strange reason, I can jabber on stage without fear (ok there is a teensy bit of fear, but y'know), but I can't get myself to sing or act in public! If I could do that, I feel like I'd be a much better singer/actor too, but it's just so hard!

10. Greatest achievement?
Not caving into the expectations of others. This is my lifestory but I'll describe it in a nutshell: I was known as the "optimistic" kid and people always told me "why don't you swear?" "it's about time you grow up" "you're so naive and innocent" "you wouldn't understand" (my tiny stature only encouraged those thoughts) and i couldn't STAND it! People think that being positive is so... childlike and easy, but it's actually the hardest thing to do as a teen (and I don't think it's that diff in the adult world). I cried in my closet for maybe two hours and asked myself "am I going to live for this world or for something greater?" and I chose the latter because although I wanted to live for the world and for people, I knew I'd never be happy. So here I am today still fighting for happiness. :)

"stop, sing a song, smell the roses"
("guerilla chalking" at a writing camp at UC Berkeley - summer 2008)

Now I'd like to pass this to lifesize paperdoll, canadieren, notebook doodles, bad penny, tony wang, dear kohls, jamie, jordan, and anyone else who'd like to participate! So tag, you're it, too! :)

too good to be true

This week I've been swamped with a research essay for English, huge chapter readings for US History, intense studying for the SAT (I'm taking it in two days! eee!), and so so so much more. My biggest burden has been my English research essay about the atomic bomb over Hiroshima. At first, I didn't think Hiroshima and the whole essay shbeal would be too difficult, but as I set that aside and studed for the SAT first (& blogged second, :P), my essay is now lacking substantial facts and research and analytical commentary and gosh! I hate being so messy and asdfjkl;g as I am now. English has always been my best class, but I've been falling under pressure and I just wanted to cry last night because I didn't want to do my rough draft (I managed to do it after forcing myself to stop procrastinating at 11 pm, and I slept at 1:30 am, the latest time I've ever slept in order to finish homework).

But! God always surprises me with whimsical and amazing blessings. This week has been so much fun since Tolo is this weekend (Tolo is a dance where the girl asks the guy to go with her instead of vice versa, I think some schools call it Sadie Hopkins). I'm not going because I had a not-so-favorable experience at past dances with boys (that's another story for another day), but I love the school spirit days that Tolo entails! The theme is "fame" and some of the spirit days were "famous rock star," "famous reality TV star" (I wore a black sweater and tried to be Simon Cowell) :), "Red Carpet," and others. My favorite was "famous athlete day" because I got to dress up as Olympic gold medalist and figure skater Kim Yu Na. I'll post pictures of that this weekend! :)

I'm also extremely thankful to have won My Owl Barn's last giveaway - an Anthropologie necklace!! I knew that blog was amazing ever since I discovered it! :)

And on top of that, I also received my first blog award from Silverbeige!

I'm really honored to have received this especially since I'm a bit of a newbie. Although this week made me want to cry because it's been so tiring, now I want to cry because it's been so rewarding. :)

I can't thank you enough Silverbeige! & please do check out her wonderful blog! Her simple posts of elegant, innovative and sophisticated fashion always inspire me. :) Thank you again Silverbeige; you rock my sox!

I'd like to pass this award to:
Marz of Insights
Rachel of Rachel Red Lips
Faux Naif
Catherine of Silhouette Girl
Federica of Sweet as a Candy
