...There is no one alive who is Youer than You."

I think I've found my life calling: to be Thing 2 and help children make Horton (Hears a Who) ears. ;) In celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday (March 2nd), my local library hosted a Dr. Seuss Night and it was off the heezy parcheesi!!!! I volunteered to help out for community service hours and I expected it to be a bit mundane and routine as community service can be sometimes when you do too much of it. But this was not only fun, but it was also one of the best nights of my life!!! Seeing children smile and happy and just being themselves without any fear makes me want to go back to elementary school and be a kid forever (not to mention, their chairs actually fit me).
But it always disappoints me to think that in the future many of these happy little kids will be just like the high school students I'm surrounded by everyday, who swear, complain about how life stinks, school stinks, and believe that they have no future. I'm not sure what I will be in the future, but I know one thing - I want to make a difference in these young children's lives and the lives of others. I wish every child could reach their full potential, and it breaks my heart to think that many of them will be like the students around me today. Anyway, I'm so glad our community had a fun night like this to help stop that evil permeation of negativity! Go happiness!
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!
